FRANKLIN PIERCE GUARD BONICIOLLI JOINS ROSTER FOR GARDEN STATE BASKETBALL EUROPEAN SUMMER TOUR
EAST HANOVER, N.J. – Guard Francesco Boniciolli of Franklin Pierce University, who starred at Holy Cross High School in Delran, has been added to the roster for the USA Garden State Basketball team that will go on a 10-day European tour from June 21-30 with three games in Croatia and one in Slovenia, it was announced today. Boniciolli is the 10 th player to commit to what will eventually be a 12-player roster that will depart from Dubrovnik, Croatia, via Seabourn Cruise Lines. Games in Croatia will take place in Dubrovnik, Zadar and Opatija. There will also be a game in Koper, Slovenia. Boniciolli, a 6-3 sophomore, starred at Holy Cross High School in Delran, where he averaged 16.4 ppg as a senior. A native of Trieste, Italy, Boniciolli spent a gap year at Compass Basketball Academy before joining the Division 2 program at Franklin Pierce. The tour will depart from Dubrovnik, Croatia, via Seabourn Cruise Lines, with games taking place in the Croatian cities of Dubrovnik, Zadar and Opatija. There will also be a game in Koper, Slovenia. The first game on the tour will be June 23 in Dubrovnik. College-aged players with ties to New Jersey – which includes either playing at a New Jersey college, having attended a New Jersey high school or having New Jersey roots – are eligible to participate. Boniciolli joins a roster that currently features Ansley Almonor (Fairleigh Dickinson), Nick Boyd (Florida Atlantic), Darnell Brodie (Drake), Joe Carroll (Bentley), Vern Collins (Princeton), Pete Gorman (Ramapo), Ben Roy (Boston U.), Derek Simpson (Rutgers) and Matt Solomon (College of New Jersey), The selection process to fill out the remaining two spots on the 12-player roster is ongoing.
